Seizures, a weird eye thing, and a new car seat!

We have noticed that since Peanut's big seizure day on Wednesday, her eyes are weird. Her right eye isn't open as wide as her left. It can, and at times does, but for the most part her right eye is always closed more than her left. In the ER they told me it was a post-ictal thing, but almost a week later? It's a bit worrisome. I am emailing the neurologist this picture, which is why I took it.

While I was trying to get a good picture of her eyes, she had an absence seizure. It's the first one I've caught on film! You can see how she is just staring at nothing ... then she flickers a smile and turns her head to the side. I thought she was coming out of it, but she went back into it. Then at the end she starts smiling and is back to normal. She does that a lot we've noticed, comes out of the absence seizures smiling. She starts little smiles and then a huge grin. It seems weird, but it's better than screaming!

Lastly, this is a giant THANK YOU to Junior and Heidi, for passing Junior's car seat on to us! It is so beautiful - the fabric is perfect and soft and it looks like it's brand new. It is SO ideal, I am so happy. Look how great Peanut looks in it, compared to the one she has been in. :) I took the abductor out after I took the picture. She doesn't really need it. She has so much room in this seat and it's so comfy looking. It's totally normal to sit with your knee in your armpit too, right? ;)

Oh Peanut I am so happy that the car seat works for you. Love the pictures and that great big smile.

Junior has absence seizures that look exactly like those. He has some subtle breathing changes with his(I couldn't tell for sure but kind of looks like she takes deeper breathes during them as well). Smiles are always better then screams, Junior's petite mal seizures typically end with him screaming and terrified.

You are such an amazing mom!! I am just amazed at how well you deal with all of these different medical concerns. I loved the big smile once she came out of her seizure as soon as she heard you voice!! Did you get the text I sent you late last night? I actually wrote it earlier in the day and then I think when I was sending it, someone called and it got interrupted and I didn't realize that it never got sent until late last night. Don't know if it made any sense or not. But we would love to see you whenever. I may be home T, W and Th though.

Wow, my heart breaks for you and Peanut watching that video. It's amazing you ever catch absence seizures, it almost looks like nothing is happening, especially if you are not paying extreme close attention. So scary!

So very happy she loves her new car seat, it looks so comfortable!

You've been commenting on my blogs, but it's time for an update here...I'm wondering how little Peanut's doing! Don't leave me in suspense like this. I know that typically you hear no news is good news...but I still worry when I don't hear news. How is everything going? Any change on the seizures? Hope that little beauty is hanging in there alright.

How goes the titration to the topirimate? Any better? Did you give up? I wasn't around much last week, so I may have missed an update. Let me know. You can email me too, if you like. write2keara@gmail.com Love, A.
