The many faces of Emily and Ella

Yesterday I took Emily to Children's Hospital to visit sweet Ella who is in for chemo round three. Ella's mom Denise called me ahead of time and we coordinated their outfits. How cute are they, matching each other! :)

Lacey, if you're reading this, I can't wait until we can get Emily, Ella, AND Makayla ALL in matching Minnie outfits for pictures! :)

We're home ...

She did awesome. :) The dentist pulled her loose teeth and cleaned her teeth really good. He did xrays and took impressions. He said she has NO cavities or decay, which is fabulous! We can't brush her teeth, she won't let us .. and she takes nothing by mouth, so this is great news! Thanks for thinking of Emily today.

Dental work today under anesthesia

Today we go to Children's Hospital so that Emily can get her teeth cleaned under general anesthesia. She is having xrays, a cleaning, and impressions made. The impressions are being made so that the dentist can make a bite guard that clips on to her back molars. She grinds her teeth like mad - called bruxism. She has worn down most of her teeth already. I am not at all convinced she is going to tolerate a bite guard, but the dentist wants to at least try.

So nothing scary today, other than the general anesthesia itself. Oh, and the dentist is going to pull her loose tooth - the second one in a month! :) You can see it in this picture, it's the bottom little one that looks a bit scraggly.

I got to visit Gracie and watch Ella Grace!

Both of these sweet girls were at Children's Hospital at the same time, so I went and visited both of them last week! I didn't get any pictures of Gracie, I feel bad! She was finishing e-stim and then getting breathing treatments and such while I was there. Poor thing, all she was signing was that she was done and wanted to get in the car and go home. It was SO good to finally meet Kristi and Gracie though, we have been friends online for two years or so!

Then I went out to lunch with Ella Grace's mom Denise while a volunteer sat with Ella. When we got back, Denise wanted to go visit a friend who was in the hospital having just had a baby. So I got to sit and watch Ella for her! I loved it. Ella had me laughing, she is so much fun to play with! First we walked the halls a while, pushing her in the stroller and pushing the IV pole. Then we read books, played peek-a-boo, and then she played in her crib. She is so absolutely darling! She would kiss her doll, and play with her toy, then kiss the doll again. When it was time for me to leave, she insisted on hugging me repeatedly. Her hugs are so cuddly! It is amazing to me that the nasty chemo was flowing into her as this was going on. You would have no idea that this beautiful little princess is battling cancer!! She is amazing. :)

Then it was time to go home, and as much as I didn't want to leave our friends, it was nice. It's always nice when you go to Children's and your child isn't inpatient! It's such a relief that Emiy has been stable lately. Yeah!

Defeat

I don't know what to do. Emily got the official denial letter in the mail today for her Sleep Safe bed. How am I supposed to keep my precious girl safe at night? I am just sad and angry. :(

I will announce my giveaway winner tomorrow. Sorry for the delay, but I just want to go take a long shower and cry my eyes out.

Disneyland Fun

Yesterday was the first day that our annual passes were not blacked out this summer, so we spent the entire day at Disneyland! Emily has grown up SO much, it just amazes me. She loves the rides. Laughs and squeels and wiggles like crazy during them. She loves Small World and Dumbo. The only one she doesn't like it Snow White and Pinocchio. She is better with some characters now, but definitely doesn't like most of them. She didn't mind Eeyore, even reached out to touch him. As you can see in the pictures though, Mickey was a whole 'nother story! LOL She did NOT like him. Poor Mickey! We tried using the wheelchair boat for Jungle Cruise, rather than transferring her and holding her on our laps. We won't be doing that again. She likes to snuggle in and giggle during this ride normally, but didn't love it on her own. And the speaker on the boat is right above the wheelchair spot, so it was super loud. She spent most of the Jungle Cruise covering her ears. She didn't fuss though, so it must not have been too bad. :) We stayed for Summer Fantasmic, and the wheelchair seating was horrible. We got front row, but were SO smooshed in that it was miserable. My legs hurt so bad sitting on the ground, and again - the speaker was right over the handicap seating. Emily screeched through-out the entire performace. It was an awesome show, but Emily hated it. I couldn't even take her out, we were so sardined. Luckily it was super loud, so she didn't bother anyone.

Okay, so that sounds like she was miserable all day. She wasn't! She loves going to Disneyland. She loves most of the rides, she loves walking around, she loves people talking to her and smiling at her. She really DOES like it. And Jacob loves it too of course. Shockingly, my husband even likes going and he always said he hated Disneyland! :)

I think we will be going back a few times over the next few weeks, before school starts. I can't believe summer is almost over!
