Doing well, ready for boring!

(Edited to add - PLEASE ignore the horrible looking nails in the last photo. Obviously getting my nails filled hasn't fit in to my busy schedule lately! How embarassing.)

Some of you know what I'm talking about. We wait and wait and wait until we can post "Ah, life has been boring lately" and then revel in it! :)

This surgery has been a bit rougher on Peanut than any other. Amazing, since she has had numerous, including one with an 18 minute cardiac arrest in the middle. This recovery has just been tough. I think a lot of it has to do with her maturity level now verses before. She is used to crawling around, playing with toys, climbing all over us on the couch. She tries to do those things, and then ends up hurting.

We moved her crib into the living room, since a crawling kid with a leg bag is not good. She's content in the crib with some toys, and she can watch her TV and see us on the couch. Of course, she spends a lot of time in our laps and arms. She is so cuddly.

Her pain finally today seems almost gone. She has gotten motrin twice, and that's it! Amazing, given that she just had such major abdominal surgery less than a week ago. Kids are TOUGH man! :)

These are some pictures from before surgery, in recovery, and back home. In the photos of the incision dressing, the gauze square on the far end of the incision is where the Mitrofanoff stoma is.

Her incision makes MINE hurt just looking at it. I just had abdomen surgery recently too. She's a CUTIE! Thanks for stopping by to say hello on Ben's blog. We always love to make new friends. I hope that she continues to heal well and is back to her happy self soon.

My word that is a long incision. Does she have to wear the bag all the time?

She is beautiful. I love the hair and her beautiful eyes. Thank you for sharing the pictures. I researched about the mitrofanoff and then also something about a MACE procedure. Last WEd. our urologist said she needs vesicostomy. He said if we do Mitrofanoff that she will still be infected because we are still introducing something into her also that she must have neg pressure in her bladder. Hence vesicostomy is what he will do. Also tonight her pedicatrican says she is way too low muscle tone for anything else to work. I still am doing my own research. I need to make decision as she has been sick for two weeks. I am so glad your Peanut seems to be over the hump as far as the pain goes. Will pray that each day is better and that you have awesome results from the procedure.

Thank you for commenting. Actually, I have read about 2 others that have had this procedure (vesicostomy) and I am not happy with all the wet that they are experiencing. They say she stays wet and that the person holding her stays wet. YUCK! I have gone back to cathing her every 3 hours and using the gentamycin irrigation into her bladder. I will do this until I can see another dr. and consult about the Mitranoff. Thank you for your support and I finally added Peanut to my favs so I check in almost daily. I maybe back for more specific questions.
